Cheesebox Canyon
Went down to Cedar Mesa over the weekend and hit Cheesebox Canyon. Cool to get into a canyon I've never done.

Cascade Creek - Day 7
And the last day of the trip we finished things off with another Ouray classic! Cascade drops like crazy, lots of rapping down big waterfalls, finishing with a 290 footer! Rappeling in water is fun :)

Corbett Creek - Day 6
Day six put us in Corbett Creek, one of my new favorite canyons. This one slots up more than the other canyons and is really good. Lots of side waterfalls, cool rappels, and sporty downclimbs. Great stuff! Of course the pictures do it no justice.

Bear Creek - Day 5
Next day we started some canyoneering and hit Bear Creek. The water was COLD, but lots of fun. A bunch of rappels, pools, and mini slides made for a really fun day! The sun and shade made it hard to get good pictures, but here is what I got:

A Week in the San Juans - Day 4
Day 4 I hiked up to Ice Lakes Basin. The weather was amazing, and the upper basin even more amazing. Yes the water in the lower lake really was that blue! After this I drove to Ouray to meet up with Matt for some canyoneering. I had some time to kill so I paid my $3 to see the Box Canyon Falls. I wish we could do the upper narrows and rappel down the falls but I guess it's on private property and I doubt rapping the falls would be looked highly upon. Ahh well, the canyons we did do were really good so I can't complain. The rest of the posts will show the canyons.

A Week in the San Juans - Day 3
Day 3 took me to high alpine tundra plains along the Continental Divide Trail, and to Highland Mary Lakes. In the morning I drove out to Molas Lake to hopefully get some reflection pictures on the lake. The lake however was covered in morning fog which made for good pictures still.
Started in T-Shirt and Shorts.
Then it snowed.
Then ended in T-Shirt and shorts again.

Soon it warmed up and I started hiking in shorts and a T-Shirt. Things were really nice until clouds started building and the wind started blowing. I was the tallest thing in the meadows for miles so I worried about having to hunker down if I started seeing lightning. Luckily I heard a couple thunder claps but never saw any lightning. I did have to bundle up as it snowed for about 10 minutes on me. Typical of the mountains though the storm passed and I was back to a T-Shirt and shorts by the time I got back to the car.
After the hike I stopped in Silverton to refuel my car and my body. Caught a nice rainbow as I was leaving for camp.

A Week in the San Juans - Day 2
Day two I hiked the Sneffels Highline Trail above Telluride. I woke up to dark clouds and it rained off and on all day long. It was pretty cool to watch the clouds roll off the peaks surrounding me. I missed some of the big views from the trail because of cloud cover but overall I got some sweet pic's because of the storm. After 14 miles of hiking I headed East over Ophir Pass... in the rain! A scary and nerve wracking expierience! Luckily I made it over without getting my vehicle stuck or rolling off the side of the mountain! After that I slept near the river between Silverton and Ouray.
